Badagry festival is an annual event held in Badagry, a town in Lagos state Nigeria. Badagry is the house of so many historical and important places in Nigeria, tourist visitation is never complete without badagry. Places like First storey building, Badagry slave trade museum, slave port, point of no return and many other interesting places.

The Badagry festival started in 1999 to celebrate the end of slave trade era and the importance of the ancient city during the period of slavery. The traditional religions of the Badagry people are closely associated with various festival.

Celebration of festivals and dances such as olokun-hunga, kabito, Oro, igunuko, Avohunmide, Zangbeto, Ggangbe, agbaja, akogun, the use of their traditional sato drums and a mixture of raffia based costumes are central means by which they do to revive their traditional legacy.

The festival is organized by the African Renaissance Foundation (AREFO). The Osehu of Badagry, chief Joseph Awhu baale of Javie land state that the Badagry festival is the most important festival of all their fest.

The event reflects the significance of the ancient town, it is a conjunction of culture and collection of African legacy. The major summits of the annual festival are the beautiful and colourful artistic displays of masquerade, fire eaters, musicians, dancers and the blaze. Most of this festivity also features sport competitions, the beating of the magnificent sato drum and the merriment liberation day.

The goal of the festival organizers is to bring together indigenes and cultural loving enthusiasts from the four corners of the world to come together in celebration.
