Growing up as an African child in Nigeria, it is no news that our parents often come against evil eyes in Their day-to-day prayers. We were thought to never joke with those with evil eyes, those with the ability to see a child's destiny and also those with the ability to destroy a child's purpose in life.

In our religious books and teaching, it is said that no one can stop the purpose of God in one's life, they can only be delayed but also the fear of the village people is the beginning of wisdom because they are never to be underestimated.

The painting as seen above tells a story of a young African lady who has been severely punished and held back from prospering due to the eyes of the evil people.

According to the painter, (AHMED) an undergraduate student of Lagos State Polytechnic (Laspotech) now Lagos State University Of Science And Technology (LASUSTECH) the several eyes as seen in the display painting are the evil eyes in charge of the young lady's life, making it difficult for her labour to yield positive results.

He further explains that the young lady's face was painted red because it signifies danger and that disallows her benefactors from helping her.

The tear depict pain and sorrow caused by her inability to make it despite her daily strive for success.

However, the flower closer to her one-sided face signifies hope and life, there is a popular saying that "when there is life, there is hope" no matter how weeping and sorrow last for a night, joy will eventually come in the morning. The flower is an assurance that her story can still change for the better.
