Pottery is one of the crafts of ancient Nigerian artwork that are still practiced in most parts of the country today. The molding of pot in Nigeria is widely known and it has caught the attention and interest of other countries throughout the world.

Pottery is the act of making spacious containers for cooking, drinking, eating, and then storing water.

Pottery is the art of forming objects of clay in a moist plastic condition and then drying them by either exposure to sun and air, fire, or baking in kilns or ovens.

They are formed in various types like cooking vessels, food bowls, storage red pots, drinking cups, flower pots, decorative pots, and frying pots.

Most times, our grandmother calls the clay pot which is used for cooking soup 'ISHASUN'. They love this kind of pot simply because it keeps the soup warm for several hours.

Generally, pottery making includes the following methods: Getting the clay sand, shaping (modelling), molding, decorating, and firing.
